We chose to shoot Whole Foods for our Food Project. What I reallt like about this photo is some of it is out of focus and some is in focus. I think it makes the photo that much more interesting than it would have it all of the foods were in focus. I also like the way everything is positioned. It makes your eye keep moving through the photo- from the left top corner to the bottom right corner. I don’t like how dark the shadows are in the bowl. I could have tried to make it lighter with the Burn Tool( makes things lighter and darker at your discretion) and make it lighter. I also don’t like the line shown in the bread. I could have, again used the Burn Tool to make the shadow go away.
What I like about this photo is the sunset lighting. I think it makes the picture nice to look at and it creates a pretty background for the main subject. I also like, how I’m positioned- with my arms bent, looking like I’m trying to pull myself up. I think this is alot more interesting , rather than if I had my arms straight. This way creates dimensions in the photo. I don’t like the tree branches coming out of my sides. I could have fixed this by using the Healing Brush Tool(gets rid of small things you don’t want) to get rid of it.
This photo shows that I dance. This is significant to me because I love showcasing that I dance and I like that people know that! Something I really like about this photo is all the shadows. I think it has a nice, soft shadow that makes the picture delicate and beautiful-just like dancing. I also like, how I only showed my body from the thighs and up. I think this is better than doing a full- shot because it really makes you bring the viewers focus up to the tutu and then to my face. What I don’t like about this photo is that I am in the center of the photo. I think this makes the photo alot less interesting- I could have moved the camera or myself to either side to help make the photo better. I also don’t like, how you can’t really see my ear that well. I think it looks funny… I could have made it darker with the Burn Tool (makes things lighter and darker at your discretion) in Photoshop, so that the ear was more visible.
This photo was taken in Pilsen. What I like about the photo is the long stalks from a plant. I think they make the view more interesting because it looks like you are peeking through to see the abandoned window. I also like all the different, blocked windows- it gives more diversity in the photo. I don’t like that the handicapped sign under the plant are visible. I could have used Photoshop to get rid of it by using the Clone Stamp (allows you to take part of a picture and put it somewhere else) and put the brick pattern over it. I also don’t like that the photo is slightly tilted - I could have adjusted the camera.

This photo was taken in front of the water towers in Chicago. What I like about this picture is all the individual dots within the bricks. I think this makes the photo interesting. I kind of makes you wonder where she is and what the wall is. I also like how her facial expression. I think it makes the photo look a little mysterious. What I don’t like about this photo is that, the area around her eyes are too dark. I could have made that area lighter in Photoshop to add a little more “power” to the photo. I also don’t like the glares on the wall, I think they are distracting.

I took this picture in our in-school studio. What I like about this photo is her facial expression. I think, at times, she’s smiling and at other times I think she is sort of frowning. I like how it shows two emotions that way one viewer can view it one and another a different way. I also like how, when I changed the color in Lightroom, it gave me a a brownish color. I like this because I think it creates this mysterious, secretive feel. What I don’t like about this photo is how similar it is to the other- I could have chosen a different photo or made it a little different by moving her arm or having a different facial expression. I also don’t like, how you can’t see her eyes. I think I could have moved it up a little more ormaybe have done a close-up on her face.
Movie: Cinderella
Model: Jessica
The first photo(on top) is one of my favorite! What I like about this photo is her eyes are covered. I like this because it adds a little “creppyness” to it, which is not a normal reaction when you think of beautiful Cinderella. I also like how you can still see the image and nothing is getting lost behind the lines. I don’t like that the border is black because it makes the photo really dark. I also don’t like how dark her face is. I could have improved this by lightening her face in Photoshop.
The second photo(bottom left) is portraying that Cinderella want’s to be this beautiful woman, not just a maid. What I enjoy about this is her facial expressions. I think they really express how she feels in these scenes. I also like her costuming and the way she pulled out her skirt. I think this gives it a clear idea that she doesn’t really enjoy being herself as a maid. I don’t like that it looks like I put two photos toegther just for the fun ogf it. I could have made her head(the one in the left upper corner) a lower opacity to make it look more like she is dreaming or thinking of what she could be. I also don’t like how unclear the photo is. I could have sharpened the photo in Lightroom or just have taken a better picture.
The third photo(bottom right) is very interesting to me. I put the photo in order just like the movie. I like how her facial expressions portray the way she feels in each scene, I think it helps the viewer understand what is happening alot easier. I also enjoy how all of them are unique to one another. It adds variety to the photo. I don’t really like how dark the photos are. I could have lightened them in Lightroom or Photoshop to enhance each photo. Also, I could have made them closer together so they don’t look so sperate. By making them closer this could have made the photo have a stronger impact on how the viewer views it.
This photo was taken in Chicago at Millenium Park. What I like about this photo is how clear all the details are. It think this makes the photo very strong. I also like the shadows in the photo. This creates a dramatic feel. What I don’t like about this photo is the clouds in the lower right. What I could have done to make it better is try and darken it or when I was taking the photo focused on them too.
Model: Sarah Gresik
I took this photo in our school studio. What I like about this photo is the the color. I think that color of the photo really makes the it dark and mysterious. I also love the how the detail in the lace is so clear. I think it really adds to the photo. What I don’t like about this photo is how bright it is around her mouth. I think I could have made it darker with the burn tool in Photoshop. I also don like how its a little blurry underneath her arm, it takes away from how strong the photo is.
This Close-up photography is amazing! The detail shown in these photos are exquiste!
